Intro to Scent Hurdle Racing

Want to try a new sport? Think your canine will love the thrill of a race? Do they love scent work and retrieving? Scent hurdling might be for you! Scent hurdle racing is a relay race between two teams of four canines. Canines race over a series of hurdles to a box which contains four dumbbells. The canine retrieves a dumbbell scented by their handler and returns down the line of hurdles. The next canine on the team is immediately released for their turn. Rinse and repeat until all 4 canines have finished. This sport is fast and furious. Expect barking, high energy, and sheer joy as your canine races down the line of hurdles. In this 6-week intro class, you and your canine will: - Learn about the sport of scent hurdling - Be introduced to the hurdles and scent box using food and positive reinforcement - Learn how to train a retrieve from a dowel to a dumbbell - Start the scent discrimination exercise No pre-requisites required. We will teach you everything you need to know. * This class / sport is not a good fit for reactive or dog aggressive canines. *Instructor: Kelly Oswald
