Service Description

Disc Dog is an active sport where handler and canine are a team playing games involving catching the disc and going through obstacles. This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to improve their Frisbee throw, teach canines how to catch Frisbees, land safely and start learning some of the cool disc dog tricks! In this 4-week class, you and your canine partner will learn the foundations for the sport of disc dog, which may include: - Rules of the game - Disc grips and releases - Proper throwing technique - Drive building - Safety considerations for humans and canines - Canine foundations (rollers, takes, retrieves, drops), set up moves, freestyle tricks and sequence/routine building, Each team will receive individualized training from the instructor based upon skill level. Prerequisites: Your canine does not need to know how to catch airborne discs in order to attend. There are a variety of techniques to teach your canine to catch, so don’t despair. Your canine, however, must be interested in playing with and chasing toys. Open to all canines but those under 1 yr will not be taught to jump for the Frisbee yet - they will only chase rollers, and learn groundwork and tricks. Equipment Needed: Bring your Frisbees if you already have some! But no worries, we will have discs available at our first class, that way we can help you to choose the right one for your canine. *An approved, dog-safe disc is required and is available for purchase at your first class *This class is not suitable for reactive or aggressive canines. *Instructor: Gulnaz Zagidullina
