Service Description

Diving Dogs is a fun, exciting, but easy-to-do sport with simple rules: You throw your dog’s favorite toy into a pool while he waits on a dock about 40 feet long. On your command, he runs along the dock, flings himself off the end of it, lands in the water and grabs his toy. The goal? To have the longest jump possible, which could be as short as two feet for beginners, but could be as much as 30 feet for those more experienced! Despite the apparently simple nature of this sport, there is a lot we can train to make it appealing to more dogs and easier, safer, and more successful for the dogs to take to it quickly. From solid foundations to advanced concepts and conditioning; we can do the majority of these without even swimming. - Can all dogs swim? - Proper introduction to water - Water safety tips for dogs - Building the foundation for the dock - Choosing the right life jacket - Finding the right toy - Essential toy skills - Dog handler skills and throws - Obedience in dock diving - Dryland dock diving games - Workouts for dock diving dogs This workshop will help newbies to the sport find ways to break down dock diving skills into fun, practical pieces you can practice at home or in your yard.
