Nikki Wiebe
For over a decade Nikki has been actively involved in training and trialling her Bernese Mountain Dogs in
performance events, including Obedience, Rally Obedience, Draft, Nose Work, Agility, and Scent
Detection. Over the years she saw a decrease in the number of young and new handlers entering the
sports of Obedience and Rally Obedience. She decided it was time to take action and 8 years ago she started
offering classes. Nikki has had the opportunity to train with some of the best in the business in
many areas of dog sports and wants to pass on her knowledge and love of dog sports to new handlers,
young and old.
Many of Nikki's childhood years were spent accompanying her Grandmother to shows and trials and
assisting with the training of her Grandmother’s Shelties. Nikki caught the competition bug early on and
knew that one day she wanted to compete in the ring just like her Grandmother. Nikki still considers her
Grandmother to be one of her greatest mentors.
At age 19, Nikki purchased her first Bernese Mountain Dog, Sophie. This started her on her own dog show
journey, and before she knew it two more Bernese Mountain Dogs, Bailey and Navi, had joined the family.
Over the years Nikki has accomplishment many achievements including multiple High in Trials and many
championship titles in a variety of performance events. Her current goals are working towards Rally
Excellent and Open titles with her spunky Berner Navi.
After competing for a few years Nikki decided she wanted to take things a step further and started the process of becoming a Rally judge. To date, Nikki is a CKC Rally-O and Draft judge and is currently working towards completing her Obedience judging requirements. Nikki is also a judge for the CARO (Rally) and C-WAGS (Canine Works and Games) (Obedience, Rally, Nose Work).
